Once upon a time
The Story Arc

Once upon a time... in light of the 2020 coronavirus pandemic, Timothy, a frequent public transportation rider, was forced to stay home. Timothy never felt that public transportation was particularly clean, safe, or efficient, but it was the only option he could afford.

Every day... Timothy worried about how the coronavirus outbreak would impact public transportation. He was nervous about starting to use public transportation again.

One day... his state stay-at-home order was lifted and Timothy had to decide whether or not riding transportation was a safe option.

But then… Timothy found the COVID-19 design space website, which included recommendations and suggestions from real riders to help public transportation improve safety, sanitation, and social distancing measures.

Because of that… Timothy was reassured that public transportation companies were working to make trains and stations cleaner.

Because of that… Timothy was able to also recommend some of these ideas to his local public transportation.

Because of that… His local public transportation used some of the suggestions from the website, such as having staff clean common touchpoints during the daytime.

Until finally… Timothy felt much more comfortable riding public transportation after COVID-19, encouraging others to ride as well.

Since the start of the COVID-19 outbreak, we have seen a significant decrease in ridership on public transportation due to the heightened fear of infection and lack of security in addressing this problem. This website offers a list of recommendations to improve sanitation, safety, and social distancing on public transportations which companies can implement to increase ridership once restrictions lift from COVID-19.
